In 2013, Ooredoo Group was selected as one of two successful applicants to be awarded the Telecommunications licence in the Republic Union of Myanmar, opening up access to mobile services to one of the world’s last untapped phone markets.
In February 2014 Merx was appointed as the Project Manager as well as Design and Cost Managers for the entire roll out. Merx worked as client representative consultants to deliver the first phase of the project which consisted of 35 stores.
The stores were branded as “Iconic”, “Retail” and “Kiosk” Designs across Yangon, Mandalay and Nay Phi Daw. The Ooredoo brand values revolve around connecting and engaging with each of its customers With an aggressive 6 month design and build programme for Phase 1, Merx translated the master concept designs into detailed design packs and then worked with local design firms to produce a store specific solution for each site. The stores ranged in size from 100ft2 to 2,000ft2
